my dear and devious friend requested a number of things for me to draw. this picture is number four on her request list: "Reluctant Princess." needless to say, there are stronger emotions than reluctance in this picture ^^'''''
if you can't tell, she is wearing a coat with a hood lined with long fur. i hope you don't get her hair mixed up with the fur lining... i probably spent more time cleaning up the sketch (with an eraser) than actually sketching her pose out . her expression is a mix of fear and surprise. let's just say that she is traveling in a caravan through a winding and narrow mountain pass with the sheer rocks towering above her. snow whirls all about and tosses her hair until it is tangled and not resting about her shoulders. her caravan is attacked by the white wolves that, through years of natural selection, have come to claim the mountain region as their own.
now you can interpret what is going on this scene. is the poor princess defending herself against the attacker, or is she reaching out for a loved one being dragged away and into the bloody snow?
